Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the globe by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
