No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
