Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn everything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative comments from others annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
