Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
