Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the last game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest gamblers anywhere in the world. While betting on web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I think tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
