Web High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve closing poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best bettors anywhere in the world. While gambling on web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world could be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in big stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
