Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
