NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
